NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College athletic department announced their 2025-26 athletic awards at their annual student-athlete banquet Monday night. As voted on by the entire athletic department, Amy Lauby (Fairmont, Neb.) earned the Female Character Student-Athlete of the Year award, Giuseppe Salvatore (Johnstown, Colo.) won the Male Character Student-Athlete of the Year award, Aaliyah Jones (Rapid City, S.D.) was the recipient of the Female Athlete of the Year award and Len Valkema (Leewarden, Netherlands) earned the Male Student-Athlete of the Year award.
AMES, Iowa – Northeast Community College has set an athletic department school record with 119 student-athletes named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Fall Academic All-Region Teams, breaking the previous record of 114. There were 80 First Team Academic All-Region members.
FRISCO, Texas – Former Northeast Community College student-athlete Edouard Nys (Dottignies, Belgium) was selected in the second round of the 2025 MLS Super Draft with the 40th overall pick by FC Dallas Thursday. The second-round selection is the highest for any student-athlete to a professional league in the history of Northeast Athletics.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Northeast Community College men's soccer student-athlete Len Valkema (Leewarden, Netherlands) was named 2025 NJCAA DII Men's Soccer First Team All-American, it was announced by the NJCAA Tuesday. The is the 10th time a men’s soccer player from Northeast has been named All-American during the last four seasons, which is the second-most in the nation over that period.
WICHITA, Kan. – The No. 5 Northeast Community College men’s soccer team competed in a win-or-go-home match Tuesday night in Game 3 of Pool D at the 2025 NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer Championship against No. 4 CCBC Essex. The Hawks fell to the Knights by a final score of 1-0 to end what was another historic season for the defending national champions.

AMES, Iowa – Northeast Community College men’s soccer student-athlete Len Valkema (Leewarden, Netherlands) was named Region 11 Player of the Year and six different student-athletes were named on the various men’s soccer all-region teams, it was announced by the ICCAC. Valkema and Tyrell Giwa (London, England) were named First Team All-Region, Gabriel Rossman (Vitoria, Brazil) and Yosuke Shimizu (Kobe, Japan) were named Second Team All-Region and Hugo Munter (Roskilde, Denmark) and Charly Wilkening (Schopfheim, Germany) were named Honorable Mention All-Region.
SPENCER, Iowa – The No. 3 Northeast Community College men’s soccer team traveled Wednesday to Spencer, Iowa for a matchup with No. 7 Iowa Lakes Community College in the semifinals of the Region 11 Tournament. The Hawks fell in the showdown by a final score of 4-1.
